About The Role:

Senior Finance Business Partner – Projects 

As the Senior Finance Business Partner for a significant Projects operating unit, you will be working closely alongside the Managing Director and Commercial Director. You will be responsible for both P&L and balance sheet for all things relating to Projects. You will be expected to provide analysis and understanding of orderbook/backlog, CVR’s and pipeline, ensuring that reporting is accurate, risks are managed, and operational decisions are underpinned by strong commercial insight. This is a hybrid-working remote position, combining working from home with spending time in OCS offices and attending client sites. 

Key Responsibilities 

Project Performance & Reporting (incl. CVR’s) 

  • Own all financial reporting for the operating unit, including the full monthly P&L, balance sheet and variance analysis including overheads. 
  • Lead financial review meetings with stakeholders presenting performance, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions. 
  • Audit CVR’s and ensure that the correct information is being input into the finance system 

Budgeting and Forecasting 

  • Lead the annual budget process 
  • Lead quarterly forecasts with strong understanding of operational assumptions 

Operational Business Partnering 

  • Work daily with all stakeholders to ensure they understand the financial impact of operational decisions. 
  • Translate financial results into operational language, enabling teams to take ownership of contract performance. 
  • Provide commercial challenge and support on any project variations or changes. 

Working Capital & Cash Management 

  • Monitor timely billing and debt collection through the commercial team and ensure strong commercial governance. 
  • Drive improvements in reduction in aged WIP, and overall cash conversion. 

Audit 

  • Lead on interim and year end audit 
  • Ensure accounting trading policies are followed and IFRS standards are upheld 
  • Embed good documentation practice for BAU in readiness for audit 

Data, Systems & Insight 

  • Use finance systems to produce accurate analytical outputs and drive the right culture. 
  • Improve data quality in the finance system. 
  • Develop dashboards or trackers to support operating unity performance. 

About You 

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent) 
  • Strong Projects/Construction background 
  • Hands-on partnering style with operational teams 
  • High attention to detail and strong communication skills 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills 
  • Advanced Excel and Modelling Proficiency 
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced operational environment 
  • PowerBI experience preferred
